Craving: Racing Stripes

Lately, I guess you could say that I’ve had the Need for Speed or an itch for the Fast and Furious??!!!

Say hello to my love affair with the RACING STRIPE.   There is a trendy taste for Racing Stripes in the air these days.

The bold vertical Racing Stripe is Simple, Classic & yet Edgy at the same time….which is pretty much how I prefer most things in life:)

These are the All-Stars:

the G word

Gratitude.

 gratitude

It’s essential to a happy life.

I always have this on my moodboard to remind me to always be grateful for everything I have.

For all of those that have stood beside me through thick and thin, I appreciate you!

Here we go Wednesday.

If there was a fire in my house and I only had a second to grab one thing to save, there’s a pretty good chance it would be this painting. That’s probably the WRONG thing to say but I really would be so heartbroken if I lost it. It could never be replaced.

Here’s the story behind it:

I was driving past the Habitat for Humanity store on the way to pick up my daughter from school last year and I saw it in the window. I ran in and grabbed it. The quickest impulse buy ever. I asked the guy if they knew anything about the artist, signed A. Benjaminson  (because I assumed it was painted by a professional) …all they could tell me was that it was in a house that they cleared out and that the man who painted it was believed to be a scientist of some sort?!?

Anyway, I think it’s totally crazy that someone who was such a talented artist never made himself known. I looked on the back of one of the two painting I bought and it said : SUBJECT – Microview of a Silicon Crystal 1972 (sooo cool!!!!!). Al Benjamison was a scientist from Brownsville, Oregon who turned science into a work of art. What an awesomely talented man..Only wish I could have met him!

My Finial Trick

When I’m helping my clients spruce up their house, I often suggest amping up their window treatments. Sometimes this poses a challenge because it often comes with a hefty price tag. Well, I’ve found a way around that curveball…

Bamboo curtain rods are ususally my go-to fave. It’s hard to find a good bamboo rod that’s under $100 and then you have to get the finials, rings, brackets etc and it just really adds up quickly. What I like to do is to buy long pieces of bamboo from craft stores, flea markets etc and cut them down myself to size. The only issue that I have after I cut it , is how to get a finial to attach to the end since there’s nothing to secure it to. …

The Solution: USE A WINE CORK!

This is the one that I like to use. It’s the Jute Rope Wine bottle Stopper from World Market $5.99

Love me a good styling trick yall 🙂

Happy Monday!!!
